Duties include cleaning water buckets and providing fresh water; cleaning barns and providing fresh bedding as needed; cleaning grounds; cleaning barn walls and surfaces, windows and cobwebs; feeding animals as needed; managing feed rotation; assisting with hoof trimming; assisting with administration of some medications; assisting with lifting special needs animals; monitoring special needs animals; ensuring safety protocols are followed; observing animal behavior to identify injuries, sickness or aggression; assisting with health checks as needed; transporting small animals to veterinarian as needed; picking up supplies at local stores as needed; and much more.
Qualifications Good animal behavior observation skills Able to work in all weather conditions Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting Must be able to follow detailed instructions and maintain animal care schedules as assigned Ability to work well with variety of people Team player Must have own vehicle and travel to veterinarians and local stores as needed.
Very reliable and dependable Commitment to Asha's Farm Sanctuary's animal care policies Commitment to Asha's Farm Sanctuary's organizational programs and goals One year experience at animal care facility preferred and/or animal advocacy volunteer history Valid driver's license and clean driving record required The Animal Care Provider should have a strong desire and ability to work hands-on with rescued farmed animals and a personal commitment to rescuing and protecting farm animals.
